Well, we're back to the same old, same old. Looky here. Three lounging cats. Lady Fortuna's hair is growing back. Rocky Girl is barely awake, and the pretty little Parker Dmitri really isn't that little. I'm not sure if you can see her toenails, but the "thumb" nails are growing thicker and longer than any I've seen. I don't know what causes that, and I am scared to cut them. I think I'll ask her PCP when she goes to get her shots.

Once again, I was lucky enough to watch the boys while their folks were on Christmas break. It was delightful. Pablo could become a great exercise guru, as to pet him, one has to follow him up and down the stairs. Zorro is more the couch potato. He's easy to pet. Their sweet brother, Guerro, isn't in this picture. His color was all wrong:)

BTW... Lady Fortuna is doing well. Her personal physician took the stitches out. He also told us that her tumors were basal cell, and very rarely does it metastasize.

Friday Cat Blogging - Lady Fortuna

Lady Fortuna always looks so cute. She likes the beanbag better than she likes the new chair, but she managed to take the chair over for a couple days. Lady Fortuna is usually pretty happy. In the mornings, she runs into the kitchen and makes sure I see her - she wants to make sure she gets her share of Fancy Feast.

About a month ago, I noticed a lump with a small nipple coming through the skin right below her left armpit. Stupidly, I waited to see if it would go away. It's still there, so she went to the vet, tonight. The doc looked at it and said she has melanoma. She has a surgery date, next week. Hopefully, it's benign. Hopefully, we caught it soon enough.

My sister and I went to Sam's Club and picked up my new recliner. Sis helped me bring it inside, then we went to a furniture store and picked up the couch she bought. We dragged that one inside her house. When I got back home, I put my chair together, and took all the packaging stuff apart for recycling. Once that was finished, I sat in my new chair. I had to get up for other stuff, and Grey Feather decided it was her chair. She has been laying around in it, every night. I hope I won't have to get chairs for the rest of the kitties.

So, there are three kitties in the first picture. Lady Fortuna is sitting up in the background, looking at the photographer. Parker Dmitri is laying down, sandwiched in between Rocky Girl and Lady Fortuna. She's not looking at the camera, but both eyes can be seen. Rocky Girl is also laying down, looking away from the camera. It's a cute picture.I was also going to post the picture taken right after that one. Lady Fortuna is sitting up in the background looking away from the camera. Parker Dmitri is still in the middle, laying down, but she is looking more toward the camera than away. Rocky Girl is laying down and looking straight at the camera. One of her ears is kind of laid back, just a tiny bit, making her look irritated. I'm sure sorry Blogger didn't allow me to upload these pictures. I think you would have enjoyed them.

Okay, so maybe these critters really aren't kitties, but they were the closest we saw while at Grand Cayman. I'm not sure which type of iguana this one is.Our tour guide said that the Green Iguana (Common Iguana) isn't native to the island, and is pushing the native iguanas out. Blue Iguanas/Grand Cayman Ground Iguanas (not pictured) are native to the island, and are on the endangered species list. Full list.

Close up, you can see that Parker Dmitri needs to have her back shaved. One day, it looked like she had some sort of oil, or grease, on her back. I decided I would give her a bath. As soon as the water hit her back, she persuaded me that she did not need the bath. Unfortunately, her fur is so thick, that it immediately started matting. She doesn't allow me to cut the mats out, so I called the vet. The receptionist didn't know if the person who shaves dogs will shave a cat, and she never called me back. I guess Parker Dmitri is happy enough with the matted fur, but it doesn't look as nice as it could.

How about another picture of Grey Feather on her ottoman? I think this would make a delightful advertising picture. I wonder if the company would pay me, if I sent it in. Surely, they could send a few cans of Fancy Feast - but not the beef flavor. Grey Feather and Parker Dmitri, both, think they've eaten tastier Fancy Feast flavors. The other three enjoy the beef flavor. I think all five prefer the turkey in gravy, and tuna or ocean whitefish flavors.

Sgt Mango doesn't usually look so rough. At the time of this picture, both of his lower fangs were loose. He was so snaggle-toothed, I kept hoping they would fall out. Later, he lost one. Last week Pablo modeled for the post. This week we show his brother, Guerro. I used to spell his name as Werro. Turns out, the correct spelling is Guerro. Now we know:) A couple days ago, Guerro's mom applied flea stuff to all three cats. Guerro didn't like the smell, and smacked poor Zorro around. Guerro's dad was livid. He told his wife they needed to get rid of Guerro. They didn't. Guerro, Zorro, and Pablo are getting along fine. It must have been the nasty smell from the flea stuff that angered Guerro.

Friday Cat Blogging - Pablo

I decided to post a picture of one of my favorite "not my cat" kitties, because my cats aren't doing their jobs! Besides, Pablo is such a cute kitty. I bet he does his job!

Let the griping begin! This is what my kitties didn't do this morning. We all know (if we have cats in the house) that cats have a responsibility to make sure any humans leaving the house must have a minimum amount of cat hairs sticking to their clothing.

Well, Rocky Girl was laying on the bed, and I placed my shirt on the bed. Did she get up and lay down on my shirt? Hell no! She continued to lay where she was.

Did Grey Feather try to sit on my lap while I was tying my shoes? Hell no! She continued to lay on the air conditioner.

Did Mango, ParkerD, or Lady Fortuna come over and brush against my pant legs? Hell no! They continued about their business. Come to think of it, perhaps there was a deep enough layer of cat hairs on the floor. I probably left with the minimal amount of cat hairs, after all.

Oh, goody. Grey Feather just decided that she has to sit on my lap!

From Cat's New Year's Resolutions, I found the following. I'm sure my kitties didn't make this resolution, because they still do it!:

We will not play Herd of Thundering Wildebeests Stampeding Across the Plains of the Serengeti over any human's bed while they're trying to sleep.

So, the other morning, the wake-up alarms blared to wake me. I hit snooze...several times. Rocky Girl got up on the curtain rod and jumped down, bellyflopping on my face. Wow, did that wake me up! Luckily no claws were used in that trick.

Friday Cat Blogging with Lady F and Parker D

This is a sight not often seen. Lady Fortuna doesn't usually hang out with any of the other cats. Parker Dmitri usually hangs out with Sgt Mango or Rocky Girl. It was a pleasant surprise to see these two girls side-by-side. I don't know what it is about that plastic storage container, but kitties seem to enjoy laying around on it. I have another, just like it, that contains kitty litter and seems to be in constant use.

The beautiful Princess Grey Feather has discovered the wonderful properties of the beanbag. She doesn't have to miss out on any sleep because she's not going to fall off! As long as the other kitties stay away, she is very happy to sleep here, all day. It's not that she doesn't like the other kitties...she just prefers to hang out alone...or maybe, she really doesn't like the other kitties:) Hahahah.As you know, my camera only takes pictures of kitties, so this must be a flying kitty. Wonderful!I found a cardinal tree! Isn't that something?!? I know...they are kitties, too, but I heard they are called Cardinal Kitties. It must be because of their red fur.

Isn't Werro a cute kitty? He's really friendly, too. I think he's the friendliest of the three brothers. When I walked out the door, he ran out before I could get the door shut. Luckily, he stopped on the steps, so I could pick him up and put him back in the house. The other two boys were happy to stay inside.

It snowed and snowed, last night. My neighbor said we received eight inches. All I know is that shoveling, today, was quite the chore! I kept sweeping the deck, last night...and it kept coming down, darnit! At least I could get out the door, this morning. The door opens outward, and if I hadn't kept sweeping, the snow would have packed it shut. I would have had to go out the back door. That would have meant tracking through the neighbor's yard...through all that stinking snow. If the snow was packable, it would have been a lot easier. I could have made pathways by making some snow people. That would have been cool.

I went to visit Zorro and Werro, and found they have a new brother, Pablo. Here he is. What a beautiful pound puppy! When I first met him, I grabbed him and held him for a few seconds. He wasn't having any of that. The next time I saw him, he was hiding under a bed. It took time before he would accept me as a friend, but he seems to like me better, now.

Well, the kitties weren't very photogenic, this week, so this little kitty will have to do. This is my mother's cat, Tinker. She is such a sweet little girl. She doesn't climb curtains, she doesn't have a litter box, and best of all, she doesn't claw her mom.

These kitties were born during November. What a surprise! Normally, this type of kitty is hatched in the spring. Something killed their mother, so my mother had to take them inside.

The last time I bought insulin, it was over $40. for the bottle. Today, I picked up another bottle, and it was about $26. The first time I bought it, it was around $26. or $30., if I recall correctly. I'm not sure what's going on, but it was a little easier on the pocket, this time, so I am happy. They have different needles than the ones I picked up, originally. That was confusing. They don't look the same. The pharmacist asked me, "what gauge?" Huh? Anyway, instead of getting a box, she said I could buy a 10-pack. Since I can't take them back, it's better to buy less as I was unsure.

The beautiful Princess Grey Feather usually has great balance, as shown in this picture. Lately, though, she's been falling off things. She fell off the printer. She fell off the air conditioner. She was sleeping on the computer monitor, and fell. Luckily, I was sitting right in front of the monitor, and was able to break her fall. A friend gave me a beanbag. Parker Dmitri grabbed it for her own. She's allowing Rocky Girl to hang out on it with her. She's a sharing type of girl.

We (the cats and I) finally got to watch The Hangover. I don't know why so many people said it wasn't any good. After listening and reading about how bad it was, I was afraid it wouldn't hold my attention. Not so. It was really pretty cute. I liked it! The cats and I are now watching Shaun of the Dead.

Update: Why did no one tell me that there were two Queen songs in Shaun of the Dead? That was such a nice surprise!

My cat (the one who has the FaceBook account) wrote, Mom's getting tired of all those self improvement sayings, "be good", "be happy", "be all u can be". Even American Red Cross is getting in on it. They sent her a card that said, "b positive".

Grey Feather's been in a lapwarming mood, so it's best to just sit around and hold her on my lap. We watched "Roadhouse", and "Bridget Jones's Diary", yesterday. We had already seen them, but both movies are among our favorites. Now, I see that "House" is on. Guess, we'll sit around and watch that.

I'm downloading and installing a software called GIMP. It's a free photo shopping tool, and I'm hoping it will be a lot eaiser to manipulate than Paintbrush.

Those microwaveable flavored oatmeal packets can be improved. Cook the oatmeal in the microwave. When it's done, add some flavored yogurt, and mix well. Fast and easy. Yum.

I really enjoy the Stephanie Plum book series by Janet Evanovich. I reread the sixth book, "Hot Six", earlier this weekend. I laughed a lot! Funny Stuff!

Here is Skittles. She is enjoying the outdoor air on her own hammock. She and her brother (not pictured) get to take trips out to the deck where they can enjoy the sun and watch birds.

I thought about how my kitties would enjoy something like that, too, but we don't have a large deck to place the kennel. There are fleas hopping around in the yard, as well, so we would end up having another infestation. I guess my babies will have to enjoy the sun and birds by looking out the window.

I go out to work all day, and the kitties are supposed to do the chores (wash dishes, sweep the floors, vacuum, etc.) while I'm gone. What do they really do? Just like some teenagers, they're on the computer all day!

It's a well known fact that cats and computers go very well together. Sometimes, the keyboard falls on the floor, but until I figure out what to do with the computer, I guess it's going to stay as a kitty prop...after all, it's not going to get viruses if it's not plugged in.

Memorial weekend, I decided to do some cleaning. I found a notice from the Department of Motor Vehicles that I needed to renew the plates on the car I bought in 2008. I was supposed to have renewed the plates in Jan...I ran outside and checked the plates. Sure enough, they were expired. This is the same car I loaned the niece. We were both very lucky to not get stopped!

During the winter, the gas poured out at the bottom of my bike's tank, so I knew it needed some repairs before being ridden this year. The neighbor told me that I should have been turning the gas nob to the off mode when not in use. He replaced the gasket on the tank, then I took the bike to the shop for a bunch of other repairs/tuneup - I also asked the shop to watch for the leak.

(When I took it to be inspected, a couple days earlier, I noticed a couple drops fell to the ground. I had forgotten to turn the nob while waiting in line to tell them I needed it inspected.)

So, this shop said they watched for a leak, but didn't see any. Yesterday, I paid the shop, went out to the bike, turned the gas nob, jumped on and took off. I made it about half a mile when the engine light came on and the bike motor stopped. I pulled to the side of the road, wondering, "what the hell???" I looked down at the gas nob and realized I had turned it off (back at the shop!). I turned it back on and rode the bike home. YAY!

You think these kitties are up to something? I do. I caught them having a discussion, and Mango looks guilty as all get out. I know it has nothing to do with him scooping the catfood out of the dish onto the floor, and eating the pieces he wants to eat, because he does that, anyway!

Friday Cat Blogging - Is this cat spoiled?

The Princess Grey Feather is one lucky cat. She has her own keyboard. She loves to lay around on it. I don't think it's as soft as a bed, though.

Sometimes people seem to think the cats here are kind of spoiled. Sure, Mango gets rotisserie chicken when he gets his shot, but it's to make sure he eats something.

The fearful Parker Dmitri seems to be less fearful if I give her a small piece of chicken. If she gets to lick the piece of chicken, then she is more apt to eat her treats instead of running away.

There's a good reason for some of the spoiling. Why the Princess gets a keyboard... well, there's no good reason except she likes to lay on it...and isn't she worthy?

Parker Dmitri likes to run from me, most times. I don't know why she does, unless it's because she doesn't like being picked up. My sister called her horses to feed them, and Hermie did not come. My sister searched the pasture and found her. Sis thinks Hermie was struck by lightning, and died instantly. Hermie's nickname was "The Babysitter," because she was sweet and calm, and anyone could ride her. She was only twelve. She will be missed.
