Tree in Sunlight.
Thanksgiving day was busy. I had a smoked turkey breast in the freezer from last Thanksgiving shopping, so, I finally put that in the oven. I had a package of mashed potatoes, so I didn't have to do any peeling. I opened a can of green beans, a can of mushroom soup, and threw in some Durkee onions. I opened a can of cranberry sauce, made some skillet biscuits, and made some gravy. The guy, down the road, came over, and we had Thanksgiving brunch at ten in the morning. I spent most of the day talking a sister through some computer shortcuts. It was a good day.

So glad you had a good Thankgiving. We had a vegetarian Thanksgiving here. Spicy Tempeh with roasted veggies. We opted not to visit with the family in the interest of everyone staying safe and healthy. Hopefully next Thanksgiving we will all be able to gather and really feel gratitude for the moment.
Year old turkey breast and instant mashed taters? so sorry...
I had a nice fresh Bambi ham... smoked and then pressure cooked, later I added rice and sweet potatoes plus cushaw squash and carrots and sliced sweet potato leaves... And an entire ghost pepper for seasoning... all in the same pot... big fan of the single pot meal... And... all my veggies are still fresh picked! Freeze coming next week... Gonna switch to eating turnips and kale...

Robin Andrea - It sounds like you had a nice peaceful Thanksgiving, too. I, too, hope that next Thanksgiving will be a time where loved ones may gather together without worry.
Gardens-In-The-Sand - It sounds like you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving, too. I haven’t eaten any meat since the Covid19 caused my work to send everyone home, about March 17th. I am boycotting buying meat because of the meat packing places not taking enough precautions for their employees. I finally had the turkey, because it was already in my freezer. I figure the venison you had was from the freshly hit deer that you came up on. Now, that’s the best use for it, in my opinion. That way, the other vehicles aren’t running over it, and you probably put the unused out for the little creatures!👍👍. I need to start growing turnips, too. I like them the way I cook them!😄

Good for you!
That entire industry creeps me out... Animals jammed together and fed nonsense... People on the lines having to work at ever faster pace... Those poultry lines throwing thousands of birds in the same rinse...
And hamburger... thousand animals all mixed together... Did you ever google "recalled hamburger? Creepy...
And... there was that excellent book by Robin Cook "Toxin".
If you weren't already put off by mainstream meats... that book will certainly give you something to consider...

Gardens-In-The-Sand - I hear you! Yes, I’ve read most of Robin Cook’s books. I will have to google “recalled hamburger”. I stopped eating anything but chicken and turkey, long before Covid19.
Store bought poultry is as bad as that hamburger...
Wasn't that long ago that Foster Farms was refusing to recall their product in spite of the numbers of people being hospitalized in a large number of states!
Almost worth considering going vegan... except that the produce is just as dangerous...
Isn't it time to give up shopping?
If we can't grow it or forage for it... Might be worth doing without?
