Earth 'ringing like a bell'

10.01.05
CANBERRA - Areas of Asia are still vibrating almost two weeks after the earthquake that caused the Boxing Day tsunami.

Australian National University scientists said much of the planet was still ringing like a bell...

I wonder what this means. I wonder if this year will have as many hurricanes and storms as last year - or more? What about volcanoes? I wish I had paid closer attention in geology class.

Comments:
And the coast of Mexico is vibrating too :(

Liky, can the people there feel it? When I read the article, I kind of thought maybe there was some way the inhabitants of earth:) might feel the ringing, but then again, maybe not. I guess I was thinking perhaps teeny tremors?

I had a teacher who said that the earth makes a great noise as it turns on its axis, but that we generally cannot hear it, except on those occasions when we are wont to say that the silence is deafening.

Well... i live too far away from there (thanks God!):P but i have a friends who say had felt a little tremors :S i thought they were kidding but yesterday... a newspaper published that new... i just can't believe it.
