Ha ha - this one's funny..

Watchdog investigates anti-ageing teacher advert
From what I gather from the article, the UK had an advertisement that more or less said that teaching in a classroom helps keep the teacher looking youthful. This was an attempt to encourage more people to become teachers. In my years of going to school - both basic education and college, I have come to the conclusion that teaching is a rough and stressful job. I think it has worsened as children have become mouthier and less obedient. Good teachers are worth their weight in gold.

This article is, quite simply, a lie. First, as a teacher, let me talk about an hour with any young person considering the profession. I will spend that hour talking them out of it. Let's not lie to people and draw them into a profession that concerns the care of children under false pretenses. The "teacher" will go into debt to attain the qualifications and then have a degree that really only qualifies them for the class...they will try, and maybe for a few years succeed, then they will roll up in a ball and quit, defeated and worn, leaving a path of children that may not have received the best care and instruction. Most people have the sense to leave a job they are not really cut out for, but not always with teachers, and when you're dealing in retail or working with adults, the harm can be minimal.

Point two, we work very hard to look so good. If you walk in on a teacher teaching, you'll often see this vitality and youthfulness even in a teacher approaching retirement. Folks, above all else, we're actors. Walk in on a teacher at the end of the day when they're head is down grading. If you surprise them, for a moment, you'll see the fatigue and years for an instant before the smile is plastered. Worse yet, see them on the couch that evening, you've never seen a more average, aging lot. There is one exception, happy hour on Friday, before everyone it completely toasty.

Weblacky has stated the truth most excellently.
I have raised four children, as well as attended school myself for 15 years (including kindergarten, and college). In all that time I have come across a few good teachers and even fewer outstanding ones. It is my opinion that far too many people enter the teaching field for the wrong reasons. Completely unaware of and unprepared for the stress, and the lack of appreciation and respect that accompany the profession. Sadly we all pay, but especially the children.

Liky:
I posted the meaning of picky at your website, but incase you didn't see it, it means "fussy" - or "choosy" - If you call a child a picky eater, it means he refuses to eat a lot of stuff. I hope this helps.
