Some new posts from Riverbend...

I enjoy reading Riverbend's blog, Baghdad Burning. I was pretty happy to see that she had blogged yesterday and today. Yesterday, she wrote about the Italian journalist who had originally been kidnapped and then set free. As Sgrena was being brought back, the car she was riding in was attacked by US gunfire. She was wounded and an Italian intelligence officer was killed.
...I don’t understand why Americans are so shocked with this incident. Where is the shock? That Sgrena’s car was under fire? That Americans killed an Italian security agent? After everything that occurred in Iraq- Abu Ghraib, beatings, torture, people detained for months and months, the stealing, the rape… is this latest so very shocking? Or is it shocking because the victims weren’t Iraqi?...
Part of her post today was about an email she received about an internet petition to nominate Sistani for the Nobel Peace Prize. Her thoughts on that are pretty amusing.
