Just my thoughts, this morning.

I caught some nasty bug from being run-down and temperature changes (sweating while painting...still, etc.) Yesterday, My heart was broken, and my N&D called me from the hospital as she was to undergo emergency outpatient surgery. She did NOT want to stay overnight. I got to work and told the boss I had to leave when the phone rang. Thank goodness there are such things as "open 24 hr pharmacies". I picked her up and took her home, stayed with her overnight, to make sure she was okay when the morphine + wore off. Her accident was much worse than I thought, but not as bad as it could have been. We both wish we could turn back time. World scene not much better, however, there are some positive notes:
In First Sweep, Authorities in New Orleans Find Far Fewer Bodies Than Feared, By Erin McClam The Associated Press.
He declined to give a revised estimate. But he added: "Numbers so far are relatively minor as compared to the dire projections of 10,000."...
...Ever since the hurricane struck Aug. 29, residents, rescuers and cadaver-sniffing dogs have found bodies floating in the waters, trapped in attics or left lying on broken highways. Some were dropped off at hospital doorsteps or left slumped in wheelchairs out in the open...
...Meanwhile, scores of Louisiana National Guardsmen began arriving home from Iraq. About 800 members of Louisiana's 256th Brigade Combat Team volunteered to join the relief effort, while about 1,500 will return to their civilian jobs, if any of those positions are left...
Al Gore Airlifts Katrina Victims Out of New Orleans, Criticizes Bush Administration for Disaster Response, By Duncan Mansfield Associated Press Writer.
Al Gore helped airlift some 270 Katrina evacuees on two private charters from New Orleans, acting at the urging of a doctor who saved the life of the former vice president's son...
...Gore criticized the Bush administration's slow response to Katrina in a speech Friday in San Francisco, but refused to be interviewed about the mercy missions he financed and flew last Saturday and Sunday...
...In the speech, Gore urged that the Bush administration be held accountable for the government's inadequate relief response, particularly "when the corpses of American citizens are floating in toxic floodwaters five days after a hurricane struck."...
Thank you, Al Gore. You know, you're going to be lambasted as doing this to get back in the media spotlight. Well, I don't care. Airlifting 270 people probably wasn't cheap and it was a very good thing to do.
