Friday Cat Blogging - My Mother's Cat
This is Cat the cat. We thought she was a male, when she was taken home. Turns out, some orange cats are girls. She's an outdoor/indoor cat, and unfortunately, she loves birds. Hopefully, she loves mice as much as birds.
Happy Friday! As always, check out the wonderful animal pictures linked for Friday Ark at The Modulator.

Very handsome Cat, but then I'm partial to Marmalades, especially tabbies. It isn't color, but the number of colors that is linked to sex, most often because it takes two X chromosomes to carry the information for a three-color cat.
The females are the better hunters in the cat family, and if Cat can catch birds, the mice are in trouble. Cats normally eat the mice they catch, but often use the birds as 'gifts'.

Bryan - Thank you for the explanation. It is true, however, that more orange tabbies are male. My family hadn't had female orange cats, just male, so she being female was a surprise to us.
When my mother caught mice, Cat was always happy to eat them. Hopefully, she catches them by herself, too:)

We have a female Marmalade, too!! Her name is Clementine and we thought she was a male kitty!

Bryan - I sure hope Cat hunts mice. She was missing for a day or so, a week ago, so hopefully, she was eating mice:)
Samantha, Clementine and Maverick - Howdy nback to you! :) I'm glad we were't the only ones expecting a male orange kitty.
