Cats

Cats are such wonderful creatures. They make up such cute little games. Little Saddie loves the artificial sweetener packages. I pour the sweetener in my coffee, fold the empty packet so that it's pretty small, then drop it to the floor in front of him. Makes a great soccor ball. He can play with it for a couple minutes, but then looks forlornly at the refrigerater, because that is one thing he can't get under, that the "soccor ball" can. Cotton has no interest in that game. He usually likes to wait until Saddie is busy sleeping, then he likes to jump on him. I can just imagine what he's saying, "Come on, wake up, we gotta play."

Reality Shows

Just finished watching this week's episode of "The Biggest Loser". When watching that show, I usually wish it was still light out so I could go for a jog. I think that by the show showing their physical exertion, makes people say "I need to get back into exercising." The last couple of episodes have done that for me. I finally dug out my 10 lb weights and do arm exercises. Once those are finished, I do some crunches. I feel better about it because I'm actually doing something.

Why my posting name is trailertrash

When deciding on a posting name, I thought about using some of the various names I use to comment on various other blogsites, I decided to go ahead and use this one because:

1) I live in a mobile home (otherwise known as a trailer).
2) People are vary disparaging when they talk about mobile home dwellers; hence the term - trailertrash.

Living in a trailer park means cheaper rent than living in an apartment and due to some unfortunate choices made in the past, I cannot yet afford a house. Maybe, someday, I will have a house to live in, but I realize that people who live in trailer parks are not all yokels. Many parks require the residents to own their homes. The parks also have very strict rules regarding cars, yards, the condition of the mobile home, noise, fights, visitors, and animals.
There are a lot of other things that I have not mentioned.

Comments are now available

It turns out that there are settings within settings - I tried out the comments, but they did not allow me to access - I had to click on help to figure out what to change. Help helped me and now comments are available for anyone to make a comment:)

The dullest blog

There is a blog called "The dullest blog in the world" http://www.wibsite.com/wiblog/dull/.
Unfortunately, the blogger hasn't posted since October 2004. It is pretty funny when you read the blogger's boringness:)

Sunday

It's Sunday, time to get ready to go to work tomorrow. Having four days off is great, but, I have to get thoughts and clothes organized for work. Usually, on Sunday, I reflect on what programs I had been working on Friday. Think about the problems I am fixing so that it is fresh in my mind for Monday morning. Today, I can't seem to dredge up the required info. Maybe a nap would help. The kitties have been playing this morning. They are so cute.... and so rotten.
It rained almost all weekend, but at least the snow is gone. I got up this morning and went through some of my shoes - time to throw the broken ones out. Once I did that (found 3 or 4 pairs with ruined heels) I had to write out the bills. OUCH! As I said earlier, maybe a nap would help.

Trying to figure out how to add links on the side

I guess I will have to go to help. I clicked on the edit me, but it takes me out to search to edit me. I guess that is another download. I will probably do that later today. Right now, I am enjoying the comment threads over at Eschaton http://atrios.blogspot.com/.

Boy, am I full

I got home this morning at 1:30 and started peeling potatoes. The mashed potatoes were very delicious. So was everything else. I am so stuffed. I am adding some pictures from my trip. It was a very short trip; about 25 miles.

Is it morning yet?

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I have to bring the mashed potatoes. When I get home from work, I have to start peeling. We eat about 11:00 am so I'm going to peel/wash/cut up the potatoes, then put them in the crock pot and turn that up to high. Then, I plan to go to bed!
I have a feeling that I won't be home until about 1:00 AM. It snowed today and has gotten cold. The snow didn't stick to the roads, but the wet probably has turned to ice.

Raining again

So, it has been raining a lot lately. I have things that need to be done outdoors, but it is too chilly and rainy. I sure don't feel like getting a chill this close to Thanksgiving. Afterall, I seem to finally be getting over some awful flu or cold that my co-workers have had (both places).
It was really pathetic. I work days in a cubicle in a row that has 3 cubes each side. Two girls on the opposite side were sick first, then I got sick, then one of the guys on my side got sick. The two other guys seem to be fine. Hopefully, they stay that way. It would really be pitiful if they got sick and then passed it back to us, now that we have gotten over it.

Finally!

I finally had to go into the spare room and extricate the cat. The problem is that the room is full of stuff. I had to move several items out (trombone, golf bag, large painting) then move a couple bags of other stuff into the space I made so that I could get to a less cluttered area where I figured the cat was. I was right. I think he might have been happy to get out of there, too, but since he cannot talk, I can't be sure.

The young stupid cat went into the spare room and I can't get him to come out, so I am uploading a pretty non-cat picture. Posted by Hello

Sunday afternoon -

I think I want to go back to bed. I made biscuits and ate plenty of them. I'm on the last tape of SOAP. Time for something new:)

I was over at Eschaton looking at the posts and links. It is sure frustrating that our representatives have no concern for the common people. They are supposed to be working FOR us, but all they seem to be doing is fleecing us! A couple days ago, they were trying to take away some of the percs/credits? a company gets for carrying a portion of the employees insurance premiums. This really PISSES me OFF! Those people in Washington do NOT have to currently pay for their insurance, and boy do they have GOOD insurance! We, the people pay for THEIR insurance. So how do they thank us? Trying to make us pay the whole ungodly amount of the premium the insurance company wants to insure our health.

Today, Atrios has links to Bush buying a Yacht - What? We (the country) is in debt to other countries who are carrying our debt and could probably ask for payment now. I wonder what would happen? If they wanted full payment, and we don't have it, could they take the United States as their property? Not only that, we are paying billions for sending our kids over to Iraq to kill the locals. We couldn't give them(our kids) all the protection they need, such as armored humvees, etc., but Bush can buy a yacht? and what are we, the people , getting out of it? Will we be able to go to Bush and say, "hey, it's my turn to use the yacht, give me the keys."
Here's an excerpt from Eschaton, excerpted from the newspaper article:

"The Senate voted 65-30 for the legislation late on Saturday that sets aside funds for a range of priorities including a presidential yacht, foreign aid and energy. It is one of the final pieces of work for the 108th Congress and they may return to finish a spy agency overhaul before the end of the year."

Wow! I love this blogger place! It's gonna help me pound out my rants so that I can write more clearly defined letters to the editor of my paper.

Why oldwhitelady?

1/30/2005 - I decided I needed to also explain why I use oldwhitelady as a screen name. I have been using it for ages.
It all came about one Saturday night when I had nothing else to do but watch SNL. There was a black man as host (I can't remember his name, but he was sooo funny).
Anyway, this must have been sometime during an orange alert because he said there were signs all over to watch for suspicious characters. He said he got on this elevator and this old white lady got on with him. Now, he remembered that he was supposed to watch for suspicious people, and that old white lady sure looked suspicious to him. He said he looked at her and she looked at him. The whole elevator ride! Just the way he said "old white lady" must have signalled something in my brain that said "Hey, that's a pretty close self-description, I can use that as a screen name!"

x-mas gifts

I have to figure out what to get a co-worker for x-mas - We drew names and we are giving something that starts with their last name's first letter. The name I have starts with "B". We are supposed to spend $5. for the present. I have some baskets, so I figure I can stuff whatever in the basket. We are going for gag type gifts. I was thinking I could possibly find some batman bandaids, if there are any. A bunch of bananas would work. I want to get him some stuff that he can actually use. Oh, a batch of brownies... a bundle of ... what? Oh, bear-claws pastry. A black or blue... something... bruise? No, just kidding, there.

so that is all there is to it.

What a marvelous experience. I managed to type some text, upload a couple pictures and now I have to edit the profile. Once all that is done, I will have to think of some things to write about!

Woo hoo - I've just started blogging!

Well, I finally took that step to getting a blog.
Cool! I wanted a place to put pictures and maybe write a bit.
Now, when everyone else is Friday catblogging, I can too.... woo hoo!!!
First things first... I want to get a kitty picture in here. I pushed more
and guess what? First question on there is: How do I upload pictures to my blog (wording may not be the same, but that is what it meant:) - Ok, good - need to download Hello. Ok, sign in and download... hey, it's downloading... only good can come from that, right?
3 mins 24 seconds left... boy, it sure is taking a long time:)

I remember when computers used to really take a long time to connect and download. I've always used AOL to connect to the internet and there were times I would have to leave the computer downloading on and go about my business in town or sleeping, or whatever. One time, it was going to take about 8 hours to download so I went to bed. Then next morning, the download had abended so I was supposed to start all over... I said forget it.

80% downloaded, now. soon, soon..

I love Amazon.com. I found the collectors 23 volume set of SOAP. I used to love that show back in the 70s. I've watched up to volume 17. What funny stuff.
