Friday Cat Blogging - We're Tired.

As you can see, Cotton is just plain tired. There are strings laying around and all he wants to do is sleep. Well, I feel the same way! Spring is just around the corner, but until it gets here, it's best to rest up and recharge.

Happy Friday! As always, check out the wonderful animal pictures linked for Friday Ark at The Modulator.

Friday Cat Blogging - Three kitties

It's already Cat Blogging time, again. Of course, with this blog, anytime is cat blogging time! As you can see by the picture, Sgt Mango has really lost weight. He seems to be feeling fine, but he sure talks when he wants to eat. He hasn't been completely weaned off the treats. Since they are his favorites, I guess we'll see what the doc says about his test results, the next time he's drawn.

His special food is a big draw to the other cats. They would loooove to try some of that food. I have to keep pushing them away from his food bowl, and of course, he's so skittish, he moves away from it, too.

Last Saturday, I decided to start giving him the liver pills. I poked one in his mouth, thought he swallowed it, gave him his shot (maybe) pulled back the needle and it was bent. Instead of bending it back, I stuck it in the cap and it poked through, blam, right into my finger. Ouch! Fortunately, the doc's office said I didn't have to worry, because the needle is so small. So, I set his food down and noticed a white pill on the floor! That little brat spit it out! I tried to pick him up and he ran under one of the plant tables. We played peek-a-boo for a while, until he finally ran toward the hall. Grey Feather was sitting at the beginning, and took a swipe at him. He ran back toward me, and under the coffee table, from there, to the kitchen and under the kitchen table. Finally, he ran back to the hallway, and to the bedroom. I was worried he would run under the bed, but he was nice enough to jump on the bed. I grabbed him, he grabbed the covers. I managed to release all his claws from the covers and carry him back to the living room. Stuck the pill back down his throat and I'm pretty sure he swallowed it that time.

Sunday, I didn't let him go until he spit the pill out. That way, I didn't have to chase him down. I think I'm getting the hang of giving him the pill, each morning. I hope.

Rocky Girl enjoys getting her picture taken. Grey Feather still loves her cat motel.

Friday Cat Blogging - Friday the 13th

Grey Feather enjoys the sun. She thinks it's nice there's still something she can enjoy. She thought she was the favorite, or at least the lap cat, but now Sgt Mango seems to get all the attention. He gets special food, too. Hmpf!

Happy Friday 13th! Don't step on any ladders, and let's be careful out there! As always, check out the wonderful animal pictures linked for Friday Ark at The Modulator.

What a catastrophe!

Meow, yall! Mom had to go somewhere to do something for some period of time, but she left the blog keys in the open. I thought I'd tell you about the scary happenings over here.

This morning, mom got up and gave us treats, like she always does. She pulled down the cat carrier from the couch and set it up with the door open. We kitties took off like there was someone at the door. We scattered so fast we were blurs! Mom made coffee and drank it. We started calming down and started hanging around. Mom walked around petting kitties. All of a sudden, she grabs me and starts petting me, carrying me toward the carrier. She dropped me in and locked the door! Oh, meow, woe is me ow! I started meowing at the top of my lungs, but she didn't care. What a horrible, horrible thing to happen! In a heartless manner she set my carrier in the back seat of the car, got in, and drove to my pcp. They weighed me, 11.5, svelte I tell ya, and then the doc stuck a thermometer up my butt. How embarrassing! He shaved off some hair under my chin and stuck a needle in me! He said he'd call later.

We were home and mom was just sitting there when the phone rang. I think she was watching Beastmaster. Anyway, I heard her say, "insulin shots, twice a day?!"

I'm thinking, "this can't be good," and then she said, "pills to help liver enzymes? Special cat food? I feed all five by giving them food that they can eat whenever they want. No treats?!"

I'm doomed. I can just feel it. I'm getting my claws sharpened cause when she pokes me with the needle, I'm gonna poke her back!Sincerely, Sgt. Mango Goldstein.

Friday Cat Blogging - Black History Month.

This cat was named after the character, Little Black Sambo, from the old children's books, enjoyed by his ma, and her sister, when they were very young. Apparently, the word, sambo, is considered a racial slur by some countries. The naming of the cat was not meant to be racist or demeaning. The cat got his name because he was male, black, and (to children, all those years ago) the book was very entertaining.

LBS wants to remind readers that February is Black History month. This February 12, is pretty special, in fact; it will be the 100th anniversary of NAACP. I've included a few interesting links I found through google. Black History Month from Infoplease, Wikipedia's Black History Month, and History.com's Black History.

First ride of the year.

My mother called me Saturday morning and asked if I was riding horses with my sister. I told her I didn't know we were planning to. I was planning on going to my sister's house, but we'd not discussed horseriding. I called her and she said she hoped I would. Fine. I told her I would be there.

The horses are always happy to see visitors. They like to watch the activity around them.

The rest of the pictures are posted at the other blog.
