Friday Cat Blogging - Jerremiah and Sambo

The cat, Little Black Sambo, isn't as viewable as the horse, but if you look closely, to the right, you'll see him. Last weekend, I was lucky enough to get to go riding, and Jerremiah was my horse. LBS stayed home.

Friday Cat Blogging - cats and horses.

A friend gave me a beanbag. Parker Dmitri grabbed it for her own. She's allowing Rocky Girl to hang out on it with her. She's a sharing type of girl.

Jeremiah and Prince Van Doe were playing around in the pasture. This was the best picture I managed to take.

The boys look like they're up to no good. Probably making nefarious plans.

The Prince and his mom, Millie. They're just enjoying the day.

The nags.

I went to my sister's house on Saturday. Before we took the horses out, I took some photographs of a couple two headed horses. I wonder where they get their water...and just WHAT is in the water?

Better pictures at the other blog post, It was a great ride.

Why do I hurt?.... part 2.

Which horses would we ride? It looks like there are a bunch of them. Here are Hermie, Sammie, Jeremiah, and a headshot of Prince Vandoe. My sister believes in utilizing any help she can. Prince VanDoe is a great rope holder.Ah, Hermie is one of the "soon to be ridden".
Jeremiah, her son, is the other "soon to be ridden".

First ride of the year.

My mother called me Saturday morning and asked if I was riding horses with my sister. I told her I didn't know we were planning to. I was planning on going to my sister's house, but we'd not discussed horseriding. I called her and she said she hoped I would. Fine. I told her I would be there.

The horses are always happy to see visitors. They like to watch the activity around them.

FCB-Do you mind if I dump?

Well, it's been one of those weeks. I don't know if I mentioned it, but the washer died, not too long ago. That means I have to go to the laundrymat. Not one of my favorite things to do. So, I figured I would take my load of clothes on a certain night. Work problems caused me to rethink. I don't know when I'll get the clothes washed. That wouldn't really be such a problem, I guess, except for all the other things that happen in one's life.

I got a new cell phone, which is supposed to be so fantastic. Not by my experience, it isn't. You're supposed to "synch" it with the computer. I followed the directions and three hours later, it still wasn't "synched". I terminated it. Stupid move on my part, I guess. I left the junk on the computer for a couple weeks. Finally, at the weekend, I decided to uninstall. Damn! Why didn't someone tell me that wouldn't be the smartest move.

Used to be, my computer hamsters ran like the dickens. The model, in the photo below, demonstrates the computer hamsters on a normal day.
Now, my computer hamsters move like models below. Yes, they turned their backs to me. I can't get the applications to open. It's something called "port magic" and it can't find the file that's supposed to be at a certain area. That's my favorite computer, mind you. This one (I'm using to post this) takes a long time to get anywhere. Of course, tonite, it decided to change its mind and is working pretty speedily. SHOCK! The worst part about it is that my completed tax forms are on the other computer. Now, I'll have to recalculate the damn things! So, another thing. My sister had to take her horses to the vet, and I asked some friends if they wanted to go. They mentioned they've ridden in the past and would like to ride again. Going there was okay. Coming back, one of my friends fell off the horse, landing on her back. She said she had double vision, but we thought it would be okay so we walked, leading the horses back. My sister, and horse, galloped home and got the car. My friend drove the car home and the three, with horses, got on the horses and rode home. My friend's eye was swollen when we got there. My sister got an icepack for her, and we left. At the emergency room, my friend found that she had fractured her eye socket. She's going to have to have surgery to fix that. Ouch. I feel so sorry for her. She had to sit up to sleep for the first couple days.

Wednesday thoughts.

Remember how I mentioned, last Friday, that my sister's cats tire out the horses, leaving them all sweaty and allowing them to roll in the mud? Here's the proof.

I was reading to Rocky Girl from an article in the April 2008 issue of Cat Fancy.

"They are not mean," says Alexy, who breeds Siamese and Abyssinians with her husband, Bruce.

Rocky Girl seems to have a shocked look on her face. Is it just us, or does that sentence look funny?

Friday cat blogging...not the usual cats.

Last weekend, my sister invited me over to ride horses. Imagine how sad we were when we found the horses too tired to gallup, trot, or even walk. Well, we found out why! The cats have been riding the horses without Sis knowing - pictured is Sam riding Prince VanDoe. Sammie is behind, waiting for the next scary cat. The cats get the horses all sweaty and tired, then allow them to roll in the muddy pasture. We ended up with the options of watching TV or playing Go Fish, instead!...and it's not like you can spank or scold these cats. They have claws! This kitty (Jessie) is their leader. Would you try to scold THIS cat?

FCB-Thanksgiving Day.

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I was lucky enough to be invited to my sister's place. She's always fun to visit. My sister has a chicken tree. When she wants chicken dinner, she just walks out and picks a chicken off the tree. I kid. Sis has a huge bruise on her arm. When asked how she got it, she said she fell out of a tree, while trying to catch chickens. In trees at night, they make easy owl food.My father and I walked out to see the horses. Prince Van Doe wasn't too thrilled to see us. He's been separated from his ma. His pasture pals are Sammie (pictured) and Jeremiah.
My sister's hibiscus was blooming. Such a beautiful flower. The kitty wasn't thrilled to have so many humans visiting his mom. The dog was happy, though. She's always happy. If the cats wanted to be held and played with, Thanksgiving was the day. There are four cats in the household. One cat stayed hidden most of the time. This cat came out and was passed from person to person.

Aches and Bruises

When I have a weekend off, I find there are many things I want to do. After a late night of work, I had a bike ride waiting for me, Saturday. It was a great day. The friend and grandkids enjoyed themselves...as I did.
It's always fun to listen to bike horn echoes, as you ride through one of these. Just ask the grandkids.
Sunday, My sister asked me to come over to ride horses. I didn't realize she had an ulterior motive. Once I got there, I found out I needed to unclog the sink, before we could go riding. I was happy to do so.Jeremiah always seemed to have so much energy. I didn't realize I'd ride the poor thing into the ground. However, pictures don't lie. Again, I'm reminded that I need to lose some weight!

I have aches and bruises from the fun filled weekend. When riding horses, I tend to wear shorts. The saddle rubs against my thighs, creating blue and purple coloration. I'll take the bruises. The ride was terrific!

Visiting Sis.

Brenda.
Sis has two black cats, but you can easily tell them apart because Brenda's the one sticking out her tongue.Jeremiah.
This picture is after the ride and after he rolled. Sis invited me to come out and ride horses, since I actually had the weekend off. Instead of riding Hermie as I usually do, she let me ride Jeremiah, which was definitely a treat. He's a fun horse to ride. His trot is actually less jarring than I expected. That's a good thing, because he likes to trot, arching his neck and lifting his feet in a fancy manner...and his gallop! Marvelous!Millie and Prince VanDoe.
Sis rode Millie. Millie is the tallest of Sis's horses...and fast! They took off and we managed to pass them, after Sis slowed Millie down. As we were riding side by side, Millie turned to Jeremiah and laid her ears back. Sis says she was telling Jeremiah, "you didn't beat us!" (A couple years ago, I rode Millie on a trail ride. She jumped a small creek and I fell off. I don't think I was paying attention. The fall was in soft dirt and I broke nothing. Maybe, I'll be allowed to ride her again, someday:) Yesterday, after riding, I had to come home and take a nap. Today, my muscles slightly ache. Obviously, I don't ride often enough.

Some other photos are posted at the other blog.

Why did no one remind me?

The third, and final, leg of the Triple Crown was last Saturday, June 9, 2007: 2007 Belmont Stakes Results.

I can't believe I missed the Belmont! And to think, it was won by a filly! That's not a usual occurrance. Good for the winner, Rags to Riches. I see Curlin was second and Tiago was third. Hard Spun came in fourth. I'll bet it was a fantastic race!
