Friday Cat Blogging - Enjoying the sun
My kitties truly know how to enjoy a beautiful, sunny day. It might be cool outside and in, but they know to wear their furs and catch the rays.
Happy Friday! As always, check out the wonderful animal pictures linked for Friday Ark at The Modulator.

Sitting here feeling pissed.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! had Portia de Rossi, spouse of Ellen Degeneres, on his show, Friday night. She is such a cutie. Of course Ellen is a cutie, too...and Jimmy's a cutie, as well.
Jimmy asked Portia what she thought of proposition 8, the one that disallows same-sex marriages, passing. She mentioned how the outcome surprised her, and since Ellen had a forum to air her feelings about it, she, Portia, wanted to do so, too. She showed a short video, Portia De Rossi's PSA, about it. Portia was standing in front of their wedding picture. She explained that she and Ellen had already gotten married, and so she was apologizing to ALL the people whose lives have been affected, and hurt, by her getting married.
Indeed! She did a great job and I hope all thoselosers anti-gay marriage types, who voted for proposition 8, feel foolish. I hope they realize how small-minded they are.
You know, in the not so distant past...shit...let's be real, here..., more like since my teens, twenties, thir... etc,... you get the drift, I wanted to get married. Unfortunately for me, I could't even find a stupid guy (or an intelligent guy, or just an average Joe guy) to marry me! In the movie, 'Til There Was You, Gwen is explaining to Harriet why she wasn't married. Paraphrasing here: "at first I was too young, then I was too old, but right in the middle there was about a minute or two where I could have gotten married, but I must not have been paying attention." Me Too! Now, for me, it's too damn late! I'm a dried up and bitter old cow, aka "Krazy Kat Lady"!
For goodness sakes, let the people who find someone to marry, marry, whether they are hetero or same-sex! Shouldn't everyone have that happy opportunity?
Oh, yeah. The picture is a bad photo of something I painted today. The head, eye, and beak definitely need a little more work. The water (can you tell?) needs work too. I uploaded the picture to Thumbsnap.com and lightened it up a bit. That helped...slightly.

Today, Cotton "ran away".
After a sleepless weekend, for both Cotton and me, I decided it was time to go see the vet. Cotton had lost interest in food, and could barely put his tongue in the water. He had a temperature, on Wednesday, when we first went to the vet, and he never got better. After days of his weakly moving about, and crying out, I think he was in a great deal of pain and his bodily functions had shut down. His circulation was shot, and his kidneys were enlarged. Any food I managed to get into him, he threw up. Water was thrown up, too.
I'm not sure it was the best thing to do, but I knew if we hooked him to IVs and IF he got better, he would probably end up in a diabetic coma, since I could seldom find his hiding places. The doc asked if I was sure I wanted to have him put to sleep. I said, "yes". I signed the paper that said he had not clawed or bit anyone in the last 10 days. The doc stuck the needle of poison into Cotton's heart.
I buried him next to his best friend, Saddie. When Saddie died, Cotton roamed around looking and calling for him, for weeks. He never loved the rest of the cats as much as he loved Saddie.
Cotton was the wonderful white kitty who made sure I went to work with the required amount of white hairs on my clothing, every day. When he was a youngster, he would go to do something, and fall asleep part way toward his goal. When he was two, he had a major surgery that left him freezing. He learned how warm it was under the blankets. Most every night, he would come to the head of the covers and I would lift them for him to crawl under.
If there is a heaven, I hope it's for kitties. They are wonderful creatures who do so much for their human companions. Goodbye, my beautiful Cotton, you gave me nine wonderful years. You are loved, and will be missed.

Friday Cat Blogging - Cotton
I'm not sure where Cotton is, just now. I took him to the vet, yesterday. The vet drew blood and gave him an antibiotic shot. He sent home some ampicillin to dose Cotton, twice a day. He was dosed this morning, but I can't give him tonight's dose...because I can't find him! The doc called today about the lab results. Seems Cotton has diabetes, too. His glucose was a bit higher than Sgt. Mango's. He's supposed to get insulin shots twice a day, just like Sgt Mango.
Originally, the doc left a message on the voicemail. When I called back, the assistant answered the phone. She said the doc wondered if I started using some new cleaning product. I explained that I don't clean. If bleach and dishsoap aren't good enough, then to hell with it!...for anything and everything. I think it was the cat food that I worried about, back in November. I wish I had the bag, still. At least we would know what the suspicious product was. I asked if I should bring the girls in, but he figured if they weren't showing symptoms, they probably didn't need testing.
