It's morning somewhere

In my February 28, 2010 post, I showed the start of a new painting. Here is what it now looks like. A little more work, and I think I will call it finished.When I finished the second pass on the above painting, I still had a lot of paint on my palette. I decided to put the excess on a blank canvas. From the various patterns, a picture showed through. The following is from those patterns.
It's certainly not finished, but should soon be...and those pinkish flowers are now yellow:)

I've had so many people ask, "Owl, haven't you painted anything, recently? How do you get your paintings to look so good?" Not. So, anyway, just because no one's asked doesn't mean I won't show how an Owl painting comes about.I started the painting about two weeks ago. The first step was to lay down some of the colors and an outline of sorts. The second step was this one. I laid down some more paint, then set it aside. Looking at it, I noticed that it looks like large rocks, right before the bunch of trees. I'll develop those a bit more, in the next step.I was sitting around, watching television, when I decided I needed to add some paint. Here is step three. I worked on the rocks and the grounded tree trunks. I was sitting around watching television, when I decided I really needed to add a little more detail. Here is step four. More work on the rocks and grounded tree trunks. Add more shaded areas, and work somewhat on the right side.I needed to add some grass, or something to make that right side area look like something. Step five. I notice that those two trees in the background are too dark. I'll take care of that next time.Well, that's about all I can think of. I don't want to spoil the painting by adding anything more, or trying to fix something that looks a bit strange. I'll call it snowymorningsomwhere. Heh:)Now that I have that one finished, I need to start something new. This is the first pass on this canvas. I know I need to finish my sister's horse painting (I started last year) but I think I'll finish this one first, then get back to hers. I kind of like this one as it is, but it's not what it needs to be.

I believe the pretty cat's name is Werro. When I said, "say cheese", he said, "mouse", instead. If you look closely, you can see two paintings on the wall. I painted those, a couple years ago:)

Rocky Girl and Parker Dmitri enjoy their favorite blanket. It sets off their colors so nicely! They are very fashion conscious, you know:)Here's an oil abstract I painted recently. It's entitled "mask". I don't appreciate abstracts, much, but I like this one. I think it must be the colors.And, this is an acrylic I painted in 2004. It's not framed, but it does hang on one of my walls. I like the beach idea. I hadn't noticed that I probably could have given the beach under the trees more shadow, in certain areas.

Grey Feather decided that the highest thing in the place (that she can get to) is the air conditioner. It's one of her favorite places to lay.I thought I would also post a couple small paintings I painted in the past week or so. Here are a couple geese.And... here is a colorful landscape. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I thought the colors were beautiful.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! had Portia de Rossi, spouse of Ellen Degeneres, on his show, Friday night. She is such a cutie. Of course Ellen is a cutie, too...and Jimmy's a cutie, as well.

Jimmy asked Portia what she thought of proposition 8, the one that disallows same-sex marriages, passing. She mentioned how the outcome surprised her, and since Ellen had a forum to air her feelings about it, she, Portia, wanted to do so, too. She showed a short video, Portia De Rossi's PSA, about it. Portia was standing in front of their wedding picture. She explained that she and Ellen had already gotten married, and so she was apologizing to ALL the people whose lives have been affected, and hurt, by her getting married.

Indeed! She did a great job and I hope all those losers anti-gay marriage types, who voted for proposition 8, feel foolish. I hope they realize how small-minded they are.

You know, in the not so distant past...shit...let's be real, here..., more like since my teens, twenties, thir... etc,... you get the drift, I wanted to get married. Unfortunately for me, I could't even find a stupid guy (or an intelligent guy, or just an average Joe guy) to marry me! In the movie, 'Til There Was You, Gwen is explaining to Harriet why she wasn't married. Paraphrasing here: "at first I was too young, then I was too old, but right in the middle there was about a minute or two where I could have gotten married, but I must not have been paying attention." Me Too! Now, for me, it's too damn late! I'm a dried up and bitter old cow, aka "Krazy Kat Lady"!

For goodness sakes, let the people who find someone to marry, marry, whether they are hetero or same-sex! Shouldn't everyone have that happy opportunity?

Oh, yeah. The picture is a bad photo of something I painted today. The head, eye, and beak definitely need a little more work. The water (can you tell?) needs work too. I uploaded the picture to Thumbsnap.com and lightened it up a bit. That helped...slightly.

I hope everyone had as good of Christmas as I did. I was able to sleep for long periods of time. I'm hoping to do the same, this coming weekend.

I did take time to paint a little bit. This is the painting I've been working on. It's not finished. Oh no, not by a long shot. However, It doesn't look too bad, so far (to me, anyway:). Last night, I sat on the floor to add some paint. Grey Feather thought the brush was a plaything. I think she ended up getting paint on her paw. It's not a big deal. The paint isn't poisonous.

I think I've found a new way to keep her occupied. No, it has nothing to do with paint. Yes, it has something to do with string. I'll post that picture for Friday Cat Blogging.

This one was actually just for me. Two years ago, I'd gone on a night kayak trip. It was absolutely wonderful. I didn't take a camera because I was afraid it would get wet. There was one spot that stuck in my head. This was it. We were carefully floating through the water. The limbs and rocks weren't exactly easy to see. We stopped at a small rocky bank. The night was quite warm. I tried to take a mental snapshot. Once home, I started painting it, but never finished. After some recent brushwork, I'm calling it finished. In this picture, I know what I'm looking at, but can you see it? Or does it just look like black and white paint pushed around the canvas?
