Happy New Year.
Like the setting sun, so exits the old year. In some ways it was a fantastic year, in others, it was crap. Personally, I'm expecting a better showing from 2008. Happy New Year, my friends.

FCB-Play Time.
As I indicated in the post below, I found a way to keep Grey Feather occupied with her strings. There is one problem, though. It's so funny to watch her chase the string, I can't get anything done!
Happy Friday! As always, check out the wonderful animal pictures linked for Friday Ark at The Modulator.

Painting.
I hope everyone had as good of Christmas as I did. I was able to sleep for long periods of time. I'm hoping to do the same, this coming weekend.
I did take time to paint a little bit. This is the painting I've been working on. It's not finished. Oh no, not by a long shot. However, It doesn't look too bad, so far (to me, anyway:). Last night, I sat on the floor to add some paint. Grey Feather thought the brush was a plaything. I think she ended up getting paint on her paw. It's not a big deal. The paint isn't poisonous.
I think I've found a new way to keep her occupied. No, it has nothing to do with paint. Yes, it has something to do with string. I'll post that picture for Friday Cat Blogging.

Let's all get out there and shop til we drop.
Oh, that Fixer...He tagged me with a Christmas Meme, of all things. Sorry, Buddy, We never celebrated Christmas, while I was growing up. For a while there, we celebrated, once I was an adult. Don't much celebrate it, now, except to exchange a few gifts, and maybe a card or two.
No cards this year. I didn't set aside the time to make them. And anyway, I should be out shopping, not answering meme questions. I like your answers, though. Let's pretend your answers are mine. I'll post two colorful pictures, instead.Even though the picture was a bit fuzzy, I liked the way the sky was mirrored in the wet pavement. The bright brake lights beckoned. I think these might have been Christmas shoppers.

FCB-Idea for the season.
My cats were sitting around the other day, wondering what kinds of mischief they could do. Finally, Grey Feather says, "Well, we could climb the curtains. I always get a kick out of that."
Orange boy, Sgt Mango, hissed at the idea, "hsss, I'm too big to climb curtains, I'd probably pull them down. Anyway, what about the claw marks?"
Beautiful soft Rocky Girl purred, "it doesn't matter, mom can't tell new marks from all the old ones. Anyway, I think we should all get up on the curtain rod, above the bed, and jump down when mom's trying to sleep."
Tired Cotton growled, "grrrl, that's not a good idea. If we all got up there, it would probably collapse under our combined weight. How about we all just hide for a day or so?"
The calm Lady Fortuna spoke up, "Meow, I'd rather sleep in my regular sleeping place, than have to search for a good hidey spot!"
Grey Feather thought about it a bit more, then said, "Meow, I have a great idea! Why don't we Weeweechu?
"Mrrrf, What?" asked Sgt Mango.
"Brrrwf, What?" asked Rocky Girl.
"Weemewf, what?" asked Cotton.
"Meow, weeweechu, what?" asked Lady Fortuna.
"Purrrr purrr, come on everybody, sing it with me," directed Grey Feather.
After coaching the others on how the Weeweechu goes, at the top of their feline lungs, the five kitties belted out:
"Weeweechu a Meeowy Christmas, Weeweechu a Meeowy Christmas,
Weeweechu a Meeowy Christmas, and a Happy Mew Year."***

FCB-Center of Attention.
It's a well known fact; when you're the cutest thing around for miles and miles, everyone wants to be photographed with you. Just ask this cat. He was laying there, waiting for his centerfold shot (for Cat Fancy or something similar) when these two people decided to grab some of kitty's limelight. Of course, they grabbed too much, and that's why the photo is so dark.
Happy Friday! As always, check out the wonderful animal pictures linked for Friday Ark at The Modulator.

Glad to be here.
Saturday morning, I called my mother. She said she'd tried to call me, but only got the ring, ring, ring of an unanswered phone. She guessed I was online. I had been.
I was reading the articles about Ebola, and Dr. Jonah Kule who'd just recently died during the Ebola outbreak in Uganda. He'd gone to medical school and came back to his village to help his tribesmen. Such a sad story, and what a horrible disease: What is Ebola?
When I told her what I had been reading about, my mother said, "I'm so glad I live here". I had to agree.
******************
It's been a nasty, rainy, icy weekend. I went out and cleared the ice from my car, Saturday morning. By the afternoon, it was covered again. I cleared it. Sunday morning, I went out, early, and cleaned the car again. I had to kick the door to get it open. This afternoon, I had to clean it again. Tonight, I went out and cleaned it, once more. It seemed to start dripping icy rain every time I cleaned the car. All day long, I heard scrape, scrape, scrape from the neighbors trying to get their cars clean.
I had plenty of time to finish this story,Writing x Three, and post it to The Practical Press. I had fun with it.

FCB-String Junkie
Grey Feather's strung out from needing a string fix. She likes to sit by a string (there are 3 or 4 strewn around the living room floor) and meow at me. She knows I know she wants to play.
Sometimes, she will run along beside me, trying to remind me she needs her string fix. Once we start playing, Rocky Girl magically appears. The others slowly arrive, watching and waiting for a chance to grab a string. Aren't kitties funny?

Sunday Offering.
This one was actually just for me. Two years ago, I'd gone on a night kayak trip. It was absolutely wonderful. I didn't take a camera because I was afraid it would get wet. There was one spot that stuck in my head. This was it. We were carefully floating through the water. The limbs and rocks weren't exactly easy to see. We stopped at a small rocky bank. The night was quite warm. I tried to take a mental snapshot. Once home, I started painting it, but never finished. After some recent brushwork, I'm calling it finished. In this picture, I know what I'm looking at, but can you see it? Or does it just look like black and white paint pushed around the canvas?
