Hot!! A love story.

I received this E-mail from my non-sister best friend. I was shocked to see she felt this way about me:)

I SHALL SEEK AND FIND YOU.......

I SHALL TAKE YOU TO BED AND HAVE MY WAY WITH YOU..

I WILL MAKE YOU ACHE, SHAKE AND SWEAT UNTIL YOU MOAN AND GROAN.

I WILL MAKE YOU BEG FOR MERCY AND BEG FOR ME TO STOP.

I WILL EXHAUST YOU TO THE POINT THAT YOU WILL BE RELIEVED WHEN I'M FINISHED WITH YOU.

AND YOU WILL BE WEAK FOR DAYS.

ALL MY LOVE,

THE FLU

Now, get your mind out of the gutter.... And get your flu shot!!!!!!

Walter Williams

My delivered newspaper entitled this article, "We've become a Nation of Sheep." In the Washington Times, the title shows as Wake-up Call. Either title, the article is alarming.
President Bush informed the nation, during a press conference, he might seek to use the U.S. military to quarantine parts of the nation if there is a serious outbreak of the deadly avian flu that has killed millions of chickens and 60-some people in Southeast Asia.
That's the second time Mr. Bush has expressed a desire to use the military for local policing. The first was in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C. 1385) generally prohibits federal military personnel and National Guard units under federal authority from law enforcement within the United States, except where expressly authorized by the U.S. Constitution or Congress...
I have to admit, I was not thinking about this at all. In fact, did I even hear about it until reading Williams' column? If I did, my brain did not retain it.

We never get to have any fun

Mom goes out and takes all these pictures, but she never takes us with her. The only time we get to go anywhere is when she decides to take us to the vet. I like to run outside as soon as she opens the door. She can't always keep me inside. Really, though, there's no where to go, except under the deck or into the cannas and then make her have to chase me. I'm afraid to get too far away, since she never lets me out to roam around. I don't know what's out there. I know there are dogs around. I can hear them barking during the day. Anyway, we took a vote and decided not to show a kitty picture this morning, instead, we found this interesting picture in her photo file and decided it was rather nice. Have a good day, everyone. Remember to go to church. No, we will not type up notes taken of the sermons.

you could have told me!

.
You're going to hell!

just kidding about the hell part, because I have no idea where you're going.

Insurgents

Pentagon Estimates Indicate 26,000 Iraqi Casualties Since January 2004. However, we started out by "Shocking and Awing" the Iraqis March 20, 2003. How many died between that time and Jan 2004? The article is saying that these casualties from Jan 2004 to current are from Insurgents.
In a rare look at how the Defense Department tracks non-U.S. casualties in the war in Iraq, the Pentagon is estimating that 26,000 Iraqis have been killed or wounded by insurgents since Jan. 1, 2004.
Well, then, starting Jan 1, 2004, how many were killed by non insurgents, I'm wondering. The military offensives against insurgents in towns such as Fallujah, killed quite a few Iraqi people. Do we count insurgents as Iraqis? I think we should. Most insurgents in Iraq are Iraqi.

I googled and found several interesting articles regarding US military strikes against insurgents.
Generals See Gains From Iraq Offensives".
U.S. military in Iraq launches second offensive
U.S., Iraqi troops launch Tal Afar offensive
Al Qaim
US military sinks further into the Iraqi quagmire

After the news came up that over 2000 US troops have been killed, I wonder if shrub still feels this way? Wikipedia
On August 2, 2004 President Bush stated "Knowing what I know today we still would have gone on into Iraq. He had the capability of making weapons of mass destruction. He had terrorists ties … the decision I made is the right decision. The world is better off without Saddam Hussein in power."[54]

My answer would be - Hell yes! If he doesn't still think this way, it's only because rich people are starting to ask questions, the oil hasn't been captured, and his administration is not doing so well.

Just a question, but does anyone know what happened to the Saddam Loyalists? We never hear about them, anymore.

Think... Soybeans...

Country's First Soy Fuel-Injection Facility Opens in Pa.
MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (AP) - A fuel-blending facility that is up and running in Pennsylvania is the first in the nation that can inject soy-based additives into diesel or other fuels before they are put into tanker trucks, officials said Friday.

Fuel marketers typically combine soy-based additives with diesel or heating oil in tanker trucks by "sloshing" them together. The new facility is more efficient, blending the fuels before they reach the pump, and spares marketers from having to buy and store the additives, which are also known as biodiesel...

...Soy-blended fuels are credited with burning cleaner and more efficiently in engines. Gov. Ed Rendell, who attended the ceremony, plugged the facility as a step toward reducing American reliance on foreign sources of oil...

One more use for the versatile soybean. Wikipedia's entry for soybeans. I never really think of the uses for soybeans until an article such as this makes it's way to my attention. The farmer can grow the beans, harvest and ship off the useful crop for processing. It can be used for animal food, people food, and fuel additive, among other uses. In reading the Wikipedia entry, I see Soybeans are one of the crops that are being genetically modified, and GMO soybeans are being used in an increasing number of products. Currently, 80% of all soybeans cultivated for the commercial market are genetically modified. I'm not pleased by genetic modification of crops used in our food products, though. Next year, I just might grow a couple plants and hope I get enough beans to make edamame.

words and phrases

Happy Furry Puppy Story Time With Norbizness has the post: These Are The Terms I Could Do Without. What a fun rundown of current phrases and words that are being over-used. Here is one I found highly amusing.
-- culture of life, ownership society, compassionate conservative, freedom is on the march. The inclusion of these phrases is a bit disingenuous, because they're just empty phrases generated by an impotent White House and parroted by craven, disgusting, wormy little sycophants.

It looks like The Heretik also has something on this topic, and includes a link to Forbidden Words, Phrases and Acronyms of 2006from Rox Populi. I had not been to her site before. What a fantastic blog header graphic!

The other picture of the day

These trees are along the edge of the river. The fog, coming up from the river, hides the background.

Faith, as in "keep the"

There is no question that Bush is a committed Christian. But he should understand he governs people of many religions and that his own faith should be personal, not presidential.
Faith Should Be Personal, Not Presidential, by Helen Thomas.
Excuse me, Helen, I agree with your article, but I do question whether shrub's a committed Christian. It seems to me that he uses religion as reasons to do what he wants, and an excuse for screwing up the country!

Picture of the day

I usually have my camera with me. Today the fog hung around for awhile, so was still there when we took a walk break. Here's one of the photos I took. I thought it turned out nice.

Truly thought provoking

Among all the other interesting links, I found this thought provoking link at Whatreallyhappened.com :

To get away with crimes, pretend to be a crime fighter
I found that the ideas and thoughts, put forth in this article, are worth thinking through. No matter what you believe, this is definitely worth the time taken to read it.

The Good Daughter

Sis went to the doctor yesterday to have her fingers looked at and to have an X-ray of her index finger. She was cheered to find out that it is, finally, starting to heal.

She took our mother to the hospital, today, to have a stent put in her heart. During surgery, the doctor had so much fun putting in one, he decided to put in a second, while he was in there. After work, I rushed over to the hospital to visit our mother. This picture is of some of the machines she was hooked to. She was also hooked to a blood pressure/pulse machine on her other side. She is doing well and looks forward to going home, tomorrow.

My sister will be taking our father to his doctor appointment, then taking him to Walmart, and then picking our mother up at the hospital and taking them home, tomorrow. Luckily, sis hasn't been released to go back to work, yet.

I thought these clouds were very photogenic.

What we like

*Meow!* The tree with the coloful leaves is mom's Ash Tree. It grows right outside the trailer. We like to watch the birds land in the branches, as they stop to rest up. They flit around and make bird type noises. Sometimes, they get close enough to the window that we can leap at them and scare them, *Purrrr*. Mom needs to put up the bird feeder so we have entertainment during the winter. We are quite distressed about the Avian bird flu. *Grrr*. *Spppfftt*.

Human suffering

Smugglers dupe Africans with hopes of Europe
OUJDA, Morocco - The man in his thirties introduced himself as Yaya and, for a fee, promised to make Joe Kararla's dreams come true.

So began the four-year plight of the Ghanaian who simply wanted a better life in Europe. That hope and his heart are now broken. Cheated and stripped of his savings by Yaya and other human traffickers, and hauled back from Europe's threshold by Moroccan police he says beat him, the 28-year-old's trek across Africa ended with a deportation flight from Morocco, a country that did not want him, to a homeland where he sees no future.

Kararla is among thousands of victims of deception and betrayal by smugglers who prey on young men from the war zones and poverty traps of sub-Saharan Africa. With ladders fashioned from branches, slicing their hands on the razor wire, hundreds have tried to scale fences protecting Spanish enclaves on the Moroccan coast in recent weeks, with sometimes deadly results...
When I read stories such as this, I am reminded that I have it soft and good. So many other people don't. In the midwest, we hear about vanloads of Mexican illegals being found in various stages of distress, or dead. These illegals are trying to find a way of feeding their families, whether here, or at home in other countries. The story in the link is heart-breaking. That the smugglers are making big money off these people to take them somewhere, and then falling back on their promises, makes me hope they (smugglers) burn in hell for eternity.

"We didn't think of his mental health,"

BY INDRANI SEN STAFF WRITER From war hero to war haunted
LI vet depicted in famous image details struggle with menacing stress disorder that escalated to a standoff...

...Army Spc. Joseph Dwyer angled a mirror out the back window of his apartment in El Paso, Texas, trying to make out the Iraqis in the evening gloom. He couldn't see them, but he felt that they were out there somewhere, ready to attack...

...Dwyer, who is still in the service, is being treated by psychiatrists on the Army base in Fort Bliss, Texas. He was released on bail and faces a misdemeanor charge of discharging a firearm in a municipality...

..."We didn't think of his mental health," said Dwyer-Ogno. "We were just so glad to have him back in our arms."

He was back, but he wasn't the same, and he continues to struggle. Dwyer can no longer go to movies or other crowded public places. At restaurants, he'll only sit facing the door, with his back to the wall. A month ago in Texas, he crashed his car when he swerved to avoid what he thought was a roadside ambush by Iraqis....

What good is war? Absolutely nothing. Unless you're into the ruination of human beings (foreigners and your own).

I'll take cash or cashier's check. Thank you, very much.

One of my friends sent me an E-mail:

Mujibar was trying to get into the USA legally through Immigration. The Officer said, "Mujibar, you have passed all the tests, except there is one more test. Unless you pass it you cannot enter the United States of America.

Mujibar said, "I am ready."

The officer said, "Make a sentence using the words Yellow, Pink and Green."

Mujibar thought for a few minutes and said, "Mister Officer, I am ready."

The Officer said, "Go ahead."

Mujibar said, "The telephone goes green, green, green, and I pink it up, and say, 'Yellow, this is Mujibar.'"

Mujibar now lives in a neighborhood near you and works at a Verizon help desk.

Yep for sure, I talked to him yesterday.

I don't think she really talked to him. I think she just forwarded this on!

I posted this, not to hurt anyone's feelings, or poke fun at any nationalities, I thought the pun on colors was funny. I hope no one takes offense.

Cute is cute!

Just because I might post pictures of one cat more than the others, it just means I can catch him doing cute things, more often. All my cats are my favorites, OKAY?

bits and peaces

Okay, so I got to Walmart and was told there's a three (3) hour wait.... No, I'm not going to do that...

Atrios Limbaugh's Miers Idea

Oh no we're doomed.

His link goes to Wampum: Starting at Center, number 43, from SMU, Harriet Mieeeeeeeers Apparently, Limbaugh is suggesting that The president announce that he's withdrawing her from nomination to the Supreme Court because he's decided to appoint her to succeed Alan Greenspan at the Federal Reserve.

Wampum's Dwight Meredith suggests she be offered Shaq's Laker position. This way she can withdraw her name and no one gets embarrassed. Funny stuff!

From the comments section, here's a name that jumped out at me and made me laugh, "Shoplifter on Aisle 10."

Dammit Jim

...I have a couple things to say...It's better to burn out, than to fade away! Victor Kruger/The Kurgan in The Highlander.

Sis just called - I can sleep late, today, the trailride is not until tomorrow. Why on earth would they have it on a Sunday? After being in the saddle all day, I know I'm going to have some aches and pains on Monday. I had originally agreed to work today for someone. Because of the trailride, I traded working today for next Saturday. Yesterday, I agreed to come in tomorrow about noon to help with another health fair. Today, I'm going to have to call around and see if I can find someone else to go in tomorrow. My sis says, "I really want you to go." Well, we'll see.

Another thing...Someone told me to not get fat the other day. I've been stewing on that for a little while, now. I realize it wasn't meant to irritate, but it did! When one is already trying to lose weight, something like that can really strike a nerve! The girls at the lab and I have decided that we will start our exercise program again. I'm not sure if I've written about it, or not. Anyway, what happens is this: We all agreed to exercise three days a week for 30 minutes. If we don't do it, for each of the 3 days we don't exercise, we have to donate 50cents to the kitty. The last time we did this, we bought pizza and KFC (at different times) with the money in the kitty.

Okay, mood is a little better, now. Time to see if I can get a battery. Also, will have to check the news for things to rant about. Personal life rants taken care of. Thanks for letting me rant.

Girl Power

I got to the lab tonite a little early, took a nap in my car. The cell phone had been plugged in for the ride to work and I left it charging. I awoke about 30 minutes later and noticed that the cell was no longer charging. I found that my car had no juice for the lights and the ignition made no sound when I turned the key. I told my problem to the maint. guy who said he would be back about the time I left and would see if it needed jump starting. I spoke to my boss later, just in case the guy didn't show back up. I also talked to a couple other people.. just in case... Well, he didn't show back up. My primary night boss said she knew how to put the cables on (I have the cables, but not real sure to put them on right) but didn't have her car. The day boss had also come in (big health fair needing typing in) and she had her car, but didn't know how to put on cables. We all three went out about an hour before I was going to leave. We got the car started and moved. I didn't let it run, though, because it started right back up after parking.
When I went out to leave, I was walking with another lady. Luckily, she came back around to make sure my car started because it didn't. I had watched the boss, though and felt sure I could put the cables on properly if she let me use her battery to jump mine. Sure enough! I attached the cables and the car started right up. I came home and let the car run at least half an hour. Walmart Automotive opens at 6:00 am. I've not had problems with their batteries, so if the car starts, I'm heading over there for a new battery. The car is 5 years old and the battery has never been replaced. It seems as though it might be time. Especially, so close to winter.

Tomorrow, my sis and I are taking the horses to go on a trail ride. I'm hoping it doesn't decide to rain. We did ride, one year, in the rain. What a sucky ride! Cold and nasty. One of the reins broke on my horse's bridle. Other people had other problems. Yuck!

Friday cat blogging-napping and kitty salad

Here are two very tired cats
I started bringing in the plants. This plant is known as the kitty salad. I don't know what type plant it is, but the cats love it. Saddie found a slug in one of the plants. I looked down at the floor and he was sitting there watching a slug crawl along. I took it outside. I don't know if Saddie had mauled it or not.

Inane, insane, deranged...

Yesterday, I was having trouble with the mouse. It wouldn't work as good as it used to. I took it apart and blew the dust bunny out. I put it back together and had to go to work. Last night, the mouse still wasn't working as well as it should. I took it apart again. There are a couple things around the ball that hold it in place. I looked closely at them. I removed several strands of cat hair from each. There was another part that also had cat hair. After removing all cat hair from the inside of the mouse, I put it back together and screwed it together. AAAAAAaaahhhhhhh! The mouse works like it was new! What a sense of accomplishment. I'm happy! I'm easily pleased:)

So, is Afghanistan running smoothly?

This newspaper article caught my attention, late last night. Rice testifies on Iraq’s future War to follow model used in Afghanistan.
WASHINGTON (AP) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice today outlined a strategy of helping Iraqis clear out insurgents and build durable, national institutions as she sought to reassure jittery members of Congress about the path to peace in Iraq.

Rice said the United States will follow a model that was successful in Afghanistan. Starting next month, she said, joint diplomatic-military groups - Provincial Reconstruction Teams - will work alongside Iraqis as they train police, set up courts and help local governments establish essential services...
...Continuing her recent stepped-up criticism of Syria and Iran, Rice said Iraq’s two neighbors must do more to help stop the flow of foreign fighters into Iraq.

With President George W. Bush’s poll numbers dragged down by public discomfort over Iraq, Rice was seeking to reassure lawmakers - who are feeling the heat from their war-weary constituents - that U.S. policies toward Iraq are sound.

Republicans and Democrats alike are raising questions about the Bush administration’s diplomatic and military plans in Iraq amid a rising U.S. death toll, soaring costs and slumping public support for the war.
The propaganda machine is probably working overtime. Wouldn't it be fantastic if the machine blew a couple fuses and sat there billowing black and gray smoke? I guess it already is blowing gaskets, right and left, but the smoke might be toxic.

I agree with the study

Here is an interesting article. It does make sense. I have a goal to lose 50 lbs. Of that, I've lost 13, so far. It's slow going, but I could get there. Quitting smoking might make it a little more difficult. I hope not. I hope I'll get my butt in gear and jog more. Shedding a little weight helps sex life, study says

I was in JC, today, and saw the capital through the trees. I decided to stop and take a picture. This is it:)

Please bare with me....

I guess I shouldn't say, "bare with me," instead Dark Wraith and several other male bloggers mentioned on his latest, "Special Blog Post: The Dark Wraith He-Stuff Challenge (for Shakespeare's Sister)" should be baring something, in the near future. To find out what, click on the link.
This picture has nothing, whatsoever, to do with that post. I like fall foliage and plan to post a lot of the pictures I take. That is all.

Fall really is here

I've decided that I will take the shots I want! At lunch, I lay down under this tree and took pictures.
It was a great day. It wasn't too hot, but wasn't too cold. It was... fallish. The leaves are turning colors. Trees are looking beautiful. Soon, they will lose their beautiful clothing. I hope to get some nice photos this weekend.
My sister and I are going on a trail ride. I think it's the poker ride. There are several stops where the riders get off their horses and draw a card. The high hand wins the kitty at the end of the ride.

Forwarding my E-mail to my dear readers...

Things I Hate About Everyone

1. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?

2. People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the T.V. remote because they refuse to walk to the T.V. and change the channel manually.

3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?

4. When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they? Gonna Kick their asses!

5. When people say while watching a film "did you see that?". No Loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor.

6. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?".... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya sunshine?

7. When something is 'new and improved!'. Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new.

8. When people say "life is short". What the hell?? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!! What can you do that's longer?

9. When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here, dumbass?

*** Forward this to at least 11 people and see what comes on your screen, you will laugh your head off!!!!!!! This works. I don't know how...

So, since I put it on the blog, that means 11 people have to come over and read it, right? :)

Wishing on a full moon

I was walking up the hill on my lane, looked at the moon, and had to go back for the camera. Many of the pictures, once loaded to the computer, had a double ring where the moon is. Obviously, I haven't figured out this camera yet.

Oh, this is Ace!

We all know how busy Sundays can be. Not all of us can get to church. Luckily, there is Landover Baptist Church to help us sinners. Today, I'd like to draw your attention to the God's Holy Hijinks - Bible Quiz. After taking the quiz (and not doing very well on it) I feel like the sinner I am, but I also feel pious and religious. When taking the quiz, here's a hint: The first answer is NOT Kayaking! Have fun!

UPDATE! Oh, sweet Jebus! You know how the end of the month is All Hallows Eve. Well, thank God for Landover Baptist Church because they have this wonderful page: How to Crash Satan's Birthday Party and Ruin Halloween. Here are fantastic tips for us to have Christian fun instead of indulging in Pagan misbehavior.

Napping...

Ask the cats, they'll tell you. Naps are where it's at! Today, I decided it was time to start painting the shed. The first coat of the main color is on. Tomorrow, coat two to be applied.

I like to read "Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine" and "Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine". I'm not sure who the writer is, but the heroine, of some short stories, is Sandra Paris. Her calling card says something like, "Great things before breakfast." Many weekends, I start out jogging or getting a lot accomplished (before breakfast). I like to say, "I feel like Sandra Paris."

Today, I got a lot accomplished, but I had already had breakfast... Maybe tomorrow, I'll have a Sandra Paris morning:)

Forecast: Cloudy, but sunny:)

By the time blogger got the picture uploaded, I forgot which one it was! At least I was able to put the address in a browser and see. Currently, the sky, over here, has no clouds. What am I doing inside? Good question! I'm heading outside! Or, looking at the cats dozing in the sunshine from the windows, perhaps, I'll do that!

"more savage, more brutal, more pitiless."

Torture and Misery in the Name of Freedom, by Harold Pinter.
...But the "free world" we are told, as embodied in the United States and Great Britain, is different to the rest of the world since our actions are dictated and sanctioned by a moral authority and a moral passion condoned by someone called God. Some people may find this difficult to comprehend but Osama Bin Laden finds it easy...

...We have brought torture, cluster bombs, depleted uranium, innumerable acts of random murder, misery and degradation to the Iraqi people and call it " bringing freedom and democracy to the Middle East". But, as we all know, we have not been welcomed with the predicted flowers. What we have unleashed is a ferocious and unremitting resistance, mayhem and chaos...

...What do Bush and Blair actually see when they look at themselves in the mirror?

I believe Wilfred Owen would share our contempt, our revulsion, our nausea and our shame at both the language and the actions of the American and British governments.

The whole article is read (and link) worthy. The horror is that he is absolutely correct in all that he says, here.

How can the USA hold it's head up when we have such crimes behind our belt? Then we have the audacity to point at other countries and make up stories (to aid our nefarious plans) about them?

that was sweet!

Last night, I worked at my part-time job. The company sponsored a hay-ride last night, too... Only the people working couldn't go because they had to work to get the work done. So... my boss decided to take her lunch late and take a couple hours of time off so she could go with her spouse and child. She left early evening. X (the girl who sits next to me) received a phone call a couple hours later. It was from the spouse. They had gone on the hay ride, gotten out a couple miles and a tire blew. A replacement hay wagon would be sent, but it would take awhile. They were walking back to their cars. HA HA HA HA HA HOW SWEET! We really wish no ill on our boss and her family. It would have been great if the people, who had set this thing up on a Friday night, could have all been there and had to walk back. A lot of the people, working, felt slighted because they really couldn't take off. They wondered why it hadn't been set for a Saturday night?

Check it out!

The 2005 International Commission of Inquiry on Crimes Against Humanity Committed by the Bush Administration of the United States The Bush Crimes Commission.
When the possibility of far-reaching war crimes and crimes against humanity exists, people of conscience have a solemn responsibility to inquire into the nature and scope of these acts and to determine if they do in fact rise to the level of war crimes and crimes against humanity. That is the mission of the International Commission of Inquiry on Crimes Against Humanity. The first session will be held October 21-22 in New York City. This tribunal will, with care and rigor, present evidence and assess whether George W. Bush and his administration have committed crimes against humanity. Well-established international law will be referenced where applicable, but the tribunal will not be limited by the scope of existing international law.

The tribunal will deliberate on four categories of indictable crimes: 1) Wars of Aggression, with particular reference to the invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. 2) Torture and Indefinite Detention, with particular reference to the abandonment of international standards concerning the treatment of prisoners of war and the use of torture. 3) Destruction of the Global Environment, with particular reference to systematic policies contributing to the catastrophic effects of global warming. 4) Attacks on Global Public Health and Reproductive Rights, with particular reference to the genocidal effects of forcing international agencies to promote "abstinence only" in the midst of a global AIDS epidemic...

Now, this is certainly a step in the ri... correct direction!

Friday cat blogging - hiding out

One more from last night

I got to the courthouse and checked in. They couldn't find me on the list. They said my questionaire couldn't be found. I'm sure I sent it in, but that's OK by me:) They said that I could go. I asked if I should expect another jury request, soon. They said no, that my name shouldn't come up for another while, yet. Cool.

Update. I've been watching the new show, "This is Earl," and really enjoying it. I think my morning has been sort of like the "Karma" that Earl talks about. On the way back home, to change for work, I stopped and filled the gas tank. I also asked if the Powerball had been won, last night. NOPE. I bought a Powerball ticket, too. Come on lucky (machine picked) numbers!

What a cutie!

Meow! Mom was having trouble uploading the sunsets. She tried to upload two of them this morning. Finally, I decided I could help her. No, I don't think I'm going to upload sunsets! **PURR**

Is it time for a joke?

A friend E-mailed this to me. I thought it was amusing. I often wonder, though, why people stay in marriages if they're going to cuckold their spouse? It's dangerous (diseases + being found out) and terribly hateful to the spouse and family. ANYWAY... on with the joke...

A woman was having a daytime affair while her husband was at work. One wet and lusty day she was in bed with her boyfriend when, to her horror, she heard her husband's car pull into the driveway.

"Oh my God - Hurry! Grab your clothes and jump out the window. My husband's home early!"

"I can't jump out the window ~ It's raining out there!"

"If my husband catches us in here, he'll kill us both!" she replied. He's got a hot temper and a gun, so the rain is the least of your problems!"

So the boyfriend scoots out of bed, grabs his clothes and jumps out the window!

As he ran down the street in the pouring rain, he quickly discovered he had run right into the middle of the town's annual marathon, so he started running along beside the others, about 300 of them.

Being naked, with his clothes tucked under his arm, he tried to blend in as best he could. After a little while a small group of runners who had been watching him with some curiosity, jogged closer.

"Do you always run in the nude?" one asked.

"Oh yes!" he replied, gasping in air. "It feels so wonderfully free!"

Another runner moved a long side. "Do you always run carrying your clothes with you under your arm?"

Oh , yes" our friend answered breathlessly. "That way I can get dressed right at the end of the run and get in my car to go home!

Then a third runner cast his eyes a little lower and queried, "Do you always wear a condom when you run?"

"Nope.........just when it's raining.

Oooh I'm sorry, but one more sunset picture....today.

I might post the other two (that I tried to upload in blogger) tomorrow morning.

good night, I'm going to bed.

I had a pretty hectic tiring day, today, but when I clicked on the following link, some of the tiredness fell away, due to laughter. Prepare to be amused: The Banana Republicans.

What a pretty evening sky

I had several pictures of the sunset, but blogger was not cooperating, for me, today. Oh, oh.... I have visions of Hello. At least Photobucket hasn't stopped working for me... so far.

Thanks, dude!

Patterns... from Iraq

Special Forces Suicides Raise Questions
DENVER - Chief Warrant Officer William Howell was a 15-year Army Special Forces veteran who had seen combat duty all over the world. Sgt. 1st Class Andre McDaniel was a military accountant. Spc. Jeremy Wilson repaired electronics.

They had little in common, other than having served in Iraq with the 10th Special Forces Group based at Fort Carson, Colo. They did not know each other, and they had vastly different duties.

Each, however, committed suicide shortly after returning home, all within about a 17-month period.

The Army says there appears to be no connection between the men's overseas service and their deaths, and Army investigators found no "common contributing cause" among the three. The fact they were in the same unit is only a coincidence, Special Operations Command spokeswoman Diane Grant said at Fort Bragg, N.C.

What can I say? The rest of the article goes on to say that the problems might have been caused by the group's attitude of "show no stress", etc. I guess holding in feelings and emotions can cause some serious problems. I wonder if knowing innocent people were being killed in Iraq had anything to do with it, too?

Let's all cross our fingers...

News Orgs Working On Stories Tying Cheney Into Plamegate… Developing… from The Huffington Post.

Thanks to the link and following comments at Whatreallyhappened.com.
Attention mainstream media (I know you read this site): Along with Who, What, and Where, remember to ask WHY Plame was outed.
It wasn't revenge. The White House crew was trying to discourage the media from reporting on Joe Wilson's knowledge of the Niger Yellowcake Hoax. Actually, they were suckering you into killing the story and boy did they ever swindle you but good! Now is your time for some payback. The real story isn't Valerie. The real story is the forged documents used to sell the lie to the public that Iraq was buying uranium. The existence of forged documents proves the lies that tricked this nation into war were deliberate. The outing of Plame proves the White House KNEW the claim was a lie and were trying to protect it.

THAT is the real story. THAT is 'What Really Happened'!

Grapes of wrath

These were out behind my trailer, actually belonging to the neighbor. I picked a lot of them. They have seeds, but are quite delicious. The raccoons and birds are pissed at me, though.
I actually went back there to get a shot of the sky. After taking the sky pictures, I decided to pick the grapes:)

Cityscape

If I had been closer, the picture would be better, but if I had been closer, I probably wouldn't have been able to take the picture of it.

take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

I took today off from my fulltime job. I had a doctor's appointment. When you get to be an oldwhitelady, you tend to go to the doctor more often. This was the 6 mo checkup of how is the Synthroid working, etc. I like to give the doctor more to do than just talk about current medication. So, I had 4 items on my list. I had the Synthroid, he said we didn't need to do a 6 month bloodwork, can do that yearly. Ankle swells sometimes, he looked at it, suggested cutting down on salt intake - oops, yeah, I guess that's a good idea. Moles on face and right jawline. Face looked ok, jawline mole is ok, but I hated it, he asked if I wanted it removed. Hell yeah! He did so, today. Quick and painless. (I should have asked for it so I could show my sis:) Smoking - I'm quitting, but having a semi-rough time about it. He ran down options. THEN he said, "How about your yearly checkup, when's the last time you had that done?" HELL! He said, "I think that should be done before the year is over." Now, I have an appointment for the pap (when he will also check to see how the quit smoking is going) and the mammogram. YUCK. Luckily for me, he's a darned good physician.

So, after all that health stuff out of the way, I took a jog. I ran at least a mile and walked the rest of the 2.5 path. It was a great morning to do so.

Doesn't anyone else around here ride bikes?

I'm not complaining, just wondering. I haven't ridden my bike all summer. I did get a lot of things accomplished, but I usually get a couple nice long rides in, too. Anyway, what brought this to my attention, was that some young children in the neighborhood, stopped by yesterday afternoon, and asked if I had a bicycle pump. I had to stop and think about it. (My mother was on the phone at my ear, and she hung up so I could look - She said it seems like people are always coming to my door when she's on the phone:) Anyway, I just wasn't sure if the pump would be in the house or in the shed. I checked the shed, first. It was easy to find. There actually are two, but one is easier to use than the other. The other may be for the smaller tire, too. I brought the pump out and the boy started airing up the tires for two smaller girls. Another girl rode down and asked if she could use it, too. Sure, no problem. It was funny, but my pliers were needed to get the valve stem covers off, too.

A couple years ago, a boy lived up the lane and would come by, every once in a while, asking to use the pump to air up his tires. I always wonder how they know I would have one, and if people living closer must not have bicycles. As I said, I have no problem with them using it. I'm glad to help.

Parking

That Saturday when my sister and I took the trip to look at my hillbilly property, I took this picture of the car. The situation is like this. There is a drive that's grown up so I can't park in it. The gravel road has some definite problems at the sides. I pulled over as far as I was willing to do, on the gravel road. We got out, locked the doors, and took off hiking. We, both, were kind of worried about people trying to get by, but the road is probably not that much traveled. My sis thought it would be hilarious if, when we got back to the car, there was a line of traffic waiting for us to move.

Let's see

is that voice from above, or below?

Bush's Satanic Verses He hears God – or does he?, by Justin Raimondo. Justin's great! He wonders how dubya knows it's God's voice, instead of (ala Dana Carvey Churchlady) oh, I don't know ... Satan!
...God, it seems to me, is the strong, silent type; it's the Other Guy who's a bit of a chatterbox, always whispering in people's ears, trying to get them to do cool-but-forbidden stuff, tempting and flattering them at the same time. If Bush is hearing voices in his head, then I fear we ought to be very worried, because it's either the delusions of a dry alcoholic, or something far more sinister...

controversial policies, oh yeah!

Flanigan Withdraws as Nominee for Deputy Attorney General, By Dan Eggen and R. Jeffrey Smith
The Bush administration's choice for deputy attorney general has withdrawn his nomination amid mounting questions from Senate Democrats over his dealings with indicted Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff and over his role in shaping controversial interrogation policies.

Timothy E. Flanigan wrote President Bush on Thursday that he was dropping out as a candidate because of "uncertainty concerning the timing of my confirmation," which has been delayed several times since Bush nominated him in May.

..."While Mr. Flanigan's nomination has been withdrawn, troubling questions remain about the Bush administration's torture policies and Abramoff's dealings with the administration and the Republican leadership of Congress," said Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.).
What a great statement by Sen. Richard J. Durbin. He's right! Those troubling questions need answers!

all 3 kitties!

Mom decided to take a nap so we decided to put up another cat picture. That's what these blogs are for, anyway. Either for cat pictures or cat toys. We have a fun screen saver that makes cool bird noises. It's always fun to look for the birds.*Purr*

Saddie

**By the way, is anyone else having problems with Hello? It gives an error saying, "The UI failed to initialize. There are no other running copies. You should reinstall." We've reinstalled and we know mom tried it, too. It worked last week after reinstallation, but a couple days ago, got the same error. Today, we tried the reinstallation, again, but still the error.

Amen!

Subject: Does God Speak to Bush?, by Ira Chernus.
So even if Bush once said that God told him to go to war, let's not get too excited. There are so many more horrendous things Bush has said and done that deserve our harsh criticism. There are so many more ways he has used religious beliefs and religious language to justify immoral policies. Let's put our critical energy there, and not on one isolated statement that he'll go on denying he ever said.

as promised

So here's the most recent picture of Mango. Boy, mom must be having problems with the camera. We can't take photos of each other, but I bet we would do a better job, if we could!*meow*

We got a look at that photo Mom put up of Saddie and me. What a crappy picture. Surely, she could have lightened it, at the least. Well, we snuck in and found a good picture of us. Sorry to Mango, but we'll post a picture of him, tomorrow, while mom's at work! *Meow*

Atrios has an post entitled They Don't Need You. In it, he has a link of a discussion where the conservative bloggers are feeling a little left out by Republican machine. As he explains, there are talk radio hosts who spew their rightist propaganda, and for online, there is Drudge Report. Hah! Say what you will about Drudge, he does put up some interesting photos:)

Searching

ScoutPrime has an interesting post, Black Bodies Remain Still..... Apparently, New Orleans is calling off the search for bodies, even though there are probably more out there. What a frustrating & irritating situation. ScoutPrime has the CNN transcript in her post. Shouldn't all the bodies be found so they can be given proper burials? What about health risks to the living? I don't know how much racism is involved, but questions do come to mind on why, if they believe there are still bodies, they don't continue the search. ScoutPrime also has a link where we can contact our Representatives/Senators, via Email.

FDA Proposes to Ban Cattle Parts From All Animal Feed to Help Prevent Mad Cow Disease
WASHINGTON (AP) - Seeking to close a gap in the nation's defense against mad cow disease, the Bush administration on Tuesday proposed to eliminate cattle parts from feed for all animals, including chickens, pigs and pets.

The government already bans cattle remains from being used in cattle feed. The proposal from the Food and Drug Administration "will make an already small risk even smaller," acting FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach said...
I've often wondered about pet feed. I don't want my sweet kitties catching mad cow!

Makes sense to me

Iraq War Delayed Katrina Relief Effort, Inquiry Finds
Relief efforts to combat Hurricane Katrina suffered near catastrophic failures due to endemic corruption, divisions within the military and troop shortages caused by the Iraq war, an official American inquiry into the disaster has revealed.

The confidential report, which has been seen by The Independent, details how funds for flood control were diverted to other projects, desperately needed National Guards were stuck in Iraq and how military personnel had to "sneak off post" to help with relief efforts because their commander had refused permission...

...The report concludes: "The one thing this disaster has demonstrated [is] the lack of coordinated, in-depth planning and training on all levels of Government, for any/all types of emergency contingencies. 9/11 was an exception because the geographical area was small and contained, but these two hurricanes have clearly demonstrated a national response weakness ... Failure to plan, and train properly has plagued US efforts in Afghanistan, Iraq and now that failure has come home to roost in the United States." ...

I've said all along, war is never good. Because we had our National Guard elsewhere, our own citizens suffered. It looks like there are a lot of areas needing improvement.

Yes, I do believe this!

As if there are no other places that grow cocaine. I wonder if they support fumigating the poppy crops in Afghanistan? I've heard that the poppy trade is one way certain agencies makes money to pay for their underhanded situations, but don't know how true that is. U.S. Supports Fumigating Colombia's Nature Reserves
The U.S. ambassador to Colombia has urged authorities to spray weed killer inside the country's spectacular nature parks to destroy cocaine-producing crops, insisting the chemicals will not inflict widespread damage on the parks' fragile ecosystems...
...Indian tribes and environmental advocates, however, contend that spraying would only add to the destruction and harm animals and their surroundings...
Of course, we've shown that we don't care about ecosystems, global warming, extinction of our creatures, etc. If we could drop all those cluster bombs and DU coated bombs on Iraq, to "Shock and Awe" the Iraqi natives, and on Afghanistan, we would support something like this.

Sister picture

As I mentioned, yesterday, I spent time with my sister. When I called to make sure we were still on for the trip, I asked if I should pick her up or if she was able to drive. She said she would drive her car over. Well, I never picked up on the word "car". I figured she would be driving her truck. Imagine my surprise when a little sporty car pulled up outside my trailer. I went out and asked her, "who's car?" She said, "mine." She bought it to 1) to save on gas, and 2) because she needed an automatic until her fingers heal. She said the bone in the index finger is broken and when she had to shift the truck, it really caused some pain. She is also hoping to get all usage back in that finger, so wants to cause as little damage as possible.

I was showing her the pictures on the blog. She said, "I guess you told everybody about my fingers."
"Of course," I replied, "if only to remind people to be careful." She was okay with that.

Obsessed!

I was looking at Whatreallyhappened.com and found the link to this article by Paul Craig Roberts, called Bush Is Cooking Up Two More Wars.
...With no US troops available, the Bush administration is revamping US war doctrine to allow for "preventative nuclear attack." In short, the Bush administration is planning to make the US the first country in history to initiate war with nuclear weapons. The Pentagon document, "Doctrine for Joint Nuclear Operations," calls for the use of nuclear weapons against non-nuclear adversaries in order "to ensure success of US and multinational operations."...

...The American people need to ask themselves why of all the countries in the world, only the US and Israel believe that it is imperative to attack Iran. If Iran is such a threat to the world, why isn’t Russia, for example, concerned and ready to invade?

Americans need to ask themselves the same question about North Korea. Why is the US, half a world away, so concerned about North Korea? If North Korea is such a threat, would not China, sitting on its border, know it? Wouldn’t Japan know it? South Korea? Wouldn’t some other country besides the US see the problem and take action?...
The article outlines the path the bushies are taking to demonize Iran. Dr. Roberts also explains what the IAEA votes (could lead referral of Iran to the UN Security Council) can do for US warmongering, down the road.
The "leaders of our country" are obsessed with nuclear war. They have their bad guys picked out and are currently kicking dust in their faces. People need to wake up and realize that we are not going to be the strong country we believe we are, if we continue in this manner. We will lose what friends we have.

Spent the day with my sister.

My sister hadn't gotten to see my property and suggested I take her to see it. (She wanted to go before having to go back to work - the doctor said six weeks, but her work wants her to come back sooner.) She came over, today, and we took off for the woods. After taking several wrong turns, finally consulting the map, we made it there. We looked at the pile of wood where the house was at one time, the old car, and other possible sheds at one time. I found this nifty bomb shelter... ok, not a bomb shelter, but a cellar. Cool! It's empty, and looks like it might be in decent condition.  Posted by Picasa

Here is another outbuilding. Posted by Picasa

Oh, no, she didn't!

Something's Fishy.

Check out the photo, posted by Pattygal, over at Mangoagogo. You have to see it for yourself. I'm sorry, but what type of humor is that? Huh?

OMG... After reading her post, then looking closely at the photo.....

I love
